Sushant is a final-year PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto with 7+ years of bioprinting experience. He leads commercialization at VRIT, working to launch the INSITE system into the market by 2040. As the driving force behind the technology’s development, he bridges deep technical expertise with strategic execution.

Dr. Axel Guenther is a Professor at the University of Toronto and a global leader in bioprinting, known for pioneering several biofabrication technologies and co-founding the CRAFT research center in partnership with Canada’s NRC. A recipient of prestigious awards including the ETH Medal and U of T’s Innovator of the Year, his work bridges mechanical engineering and regenerative medicine.

Avantika brings a cross-disciplinary background in cellular and biomaterials research, innovation consulting, and product development across nonprofit and startup settings. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from McMaster and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto. At VRIT, she supports both R&D and commercialization to advance INSITE’s path to market.

Currently, he serves as Vice President, Research and Chief Scientific Officer at Hamilton Health Sciences. With decades of experience leading multidisciplinary teams, he has secured major national funding to advance stem cell-based skin regeneration and immunometabolic therapies for complex injuries.
